Kabini River Lodge is 220 km (takes about five hours) from Bengaluru via the Mysore-Mananthavadi Road. Sign boards are few and far between, and you are likely to get lost if you take a wrong turn from Mysore. The roads are in good shape for the most part except for the last 15 km, which is ridden with potholes.

The resort is easily accessible from both Kerala and Tamil Nadu. From Kochi to Munnar, it’s 145 km; and from Munnar to Suryanelly it is another 25 km. From Thekkady it is 90 km. You can also get there from Madurai (130 km), Kodaikanal (135 km) and Coimbatore (170 km).

GETTING THERE

The resort can be reached by road or train from Visakhapatnam. The nearest railhead is Tyda station, just two km from the resort. Jeeps and other means of transport are available from the station to the resort. There is a single train that leaves Visakhapatnam daily at 7 a.m. or you can take the buses and taxis run by the State Transport Corporation, APTDC and private operators.

THINGS TO DO

The historical Borra Caves are just five km from the resort, and a two km trek from the caves takes you to the 900-feet Kataki waterfalls. The APTDC also offers a refreshing four km trek through the forest early in the morning, touching a couple of tribal hamlets. You can also go about on a bicycle or give tribal archery a shot. You can enjoy your evenings watching tribals dance around a bonfire.

AMBADI’S FALLING WATERS – KALLAR

HOW TO GET THERE

Falling Waters is situated midway between and towns of Adimali and Munnar. It is easily accessible by road. The resort is 110 km from the Cochin International Airport. You need to turn left from Kallar, on the road to Mangulam and drive about 3.5 km to Kurisupara. There is a signboard here and the resort is hardly 300 metres from here. The nearest railway station is Aluva (120km) and by road, travel on NH 49.

THINGS TO DO

Munnar is just 15 km from the resort. Take a drive to this lovely hill station-the land of the Nilgiri tea estates, Madupetty. Top station, Eravikulam National Park and more. Or, hire a jeep and drive all the way to Mangulam, though the road that is bad in parts. Go all the way to Anakulam, where you may come across a herd of elephants.
